In 2017, ROJ launched the DMD-2 motor, a unit optimised in
terms of performance and cost for driving seed metering units on high row-count
seed drills.
Increasing the number of seeding rows and also the distance
of the utilities from the battery, the 12V power supply has some limitations.
Therefore ROJ decided to develop a new motor that uses the 48V power supply
that can be found in the latest generation of tractors.
The new DMD-2 48V motor is a brushless motor with an
electronically controlled planetary gearbox. This motor can be used to replace
mechanical or hydraulic transmissions, in agricultural equipment, such as in
the variable speed applications.
Advantages of using a 48V motor compared to a 12V motor:
·
For the same motor power, the 48V system uses
1/4 of the current, reducing problems related to the voltage drop
·
For the same current consumption, several motors
can be connected to the 48V system, increasing the total power installed on the
machine
Typical applications:
·
Actuators for seeding units on precision
pneumatic planters
·
Individual row actuators for dosing systems
